For me, it also depended on how long I plan to keep on training (a long time). Where I train an aikido black belt indicates you know the basics and can start to figure things out. About 3rd black belt that you start to display convincing competence. That's fine with me, now that I know that. I did BJJ about 10 years ago, it was right for me at the time. Aikido is right for me now. And, aren't all hobbies/passions discouraging at various times?
