I have been practicing the gentle art for about 8 months now. I currently weigh in around 290lbs. (I rececenly put 10 back on but was at 280 =-( ) I think I might qualify for big man status. lol 18 months ago I weighed about 350lbs and would break a sweat climbing a single flight of stairs. I am no shrimp now but I can make it through a 2 hour training session without calling for an ambulance...........lol

I did it by swimming 5 mornings a week. Swimming is easy on the joints, great for toning, improves flexibility, and, if you push yourself, great for cardio.

Sadly, I have been out of the pool for a couple of months but I plan on getting back to it. The good news is I have been "rolling" like a mad man.

Hey bigman,

I feel for ya brother. I am a bug guy myself and the conditioning factor makes a huge difference. I will be honest, forget about the weights for now dude. Lose the weight and fat, and then worry about getting stronger. The reality is, due to our size, we are already much stronger than the average person. it's necessary to move our bodies.

My personal opinion, look into the S.A.I.D. training series by JC Santana and Rhadi Ferguson. good stuff and much more functional than a lot of thte other stuff that is out there.
