This is Going to Take Some Time….

I started BJJ in January 2006 which means that I have been doing it over two years. I am a much improved grappler than when I started but I sometimes still get caught in moves employed by wrestlers. I still encounter submissions  (mostly from television) that I am viewing for the first time (e.g. The Peruvian necktie). I still don’t fully understand the setups for the omo plata. I still learn moves from whites belts and I still wish that I was just a little better.

I still get excited waiting for BJJ to start and I still am so glad I started but to get as good as I want to be is going to take some time.

  • Hey dude. Found the site while browsing for jits for big guys. I am one myself, 5′10″, about 120kgs. Most jits sites are about wee guys beating large guys – which is fine unless you’re a big guy! Been doing BJJ about the same amount of time, so just leaving a comment to say keep on keeping on!

  • i am a larger man currently 6′4 345 lbs. i am a brown belt under royce gracie. i remember my first time rolling with royce,i was amazed how graceful he moved from position to position while i tried to power through his web.needless to say 13 years later that day changed my image of myself forever.
